Want to Use Miami International Airport in Your Movie?Miami International Airport is one airport which aims to accommodate film
production outfits which want to use airport facilities in their current
movie project as a film location. This is why Miami International Airport
has developed specific guidelines for those who will do film location
shooting, or even just still photography shots, at the airport. These
filming activities require a specific permit and must contact the Special
Events Manager, Security and Communications, so that logistics of the
filming activities can be organized properly. This is to help the airport
assure air travel passengers that their travel needs will not be hampered
or obstructed in any way by filming activities. Even student photographers
and film students need to secure the proper permit for their class
requirements.
Educational Tours at the airport
Another unusual service to the Miami community offered by Miami
International Airport is its Educational Tour Program which permits more
than 17,000 visitors (including children) to go on a guided tour of the
airport facilities every year. The tours, which are conducted by the
Customer Service Tour Program, are done at no charge from Monday to Friday.
Each tour lasts 2 hours to 2 hours and covers visits to the Terminal
building, Federal Agencies (if permitted at the time), the Fire Department,
and even the airfield. For those willing to pay for it, lunch can also be
provided to visitors.
Airlines operating at Miami International Airport
Over 80 carriers use the Miami International Airport either as a
destination or departure point headed for over 150 destinations around the
world. US airlines which serve the airport are US Airways, Northwest
Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Continental Airlines (among others.) Foreign
airlines which operate at the airport are Virgin Atlantic, Swiss
International Airlines, LAN Argentina, and British Airways (among the few
we could mention.) That is also not counting the carriers responsible for
cargo and freight delivery service.
Waiting for your flight?
If you have time on your hands during your visit to Miami International
Airport, you can while away the hours at the clubs and lounges that are
open for service to passengers of certain airlines. For example, if you
belong to the American Airlines Admirals Club, you can stay in their club
room at the Concourse A. Ditto with British Airways which runs a British
Airways Terraces Lounge (also in Concourse A.)
Wheelchair access Taxi Service
It is possible to secure the services of a cab which will permit your
wheelchair to be loaded onto it, a special transportation service available
offered by this airport. Otherwise, your transportation choices could be
regular taxi service, SuperShuttle van service, vehicle rental services,
bus service, or train service. Taxis and SuperShuttles are available round-
the-clock, seven days a week.
Hotels and other services
According to the Miami International Airport website, you can access
information about other services such as hotel lodgings from these two
websites: www.gmcvb.com or www.miamihotelguide.net. Some hotels even
provide courtesy shuttle service from the airport to their place (you will
need to inquire with the hotels when you are making advance reservations.)
