Be an Ambassador of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is part of the Cleveland Airport System, since it is owned and operated by the City of Cleveland. Its sister airport is the Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport. The volunteer ambassador program As part of the attempt of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to provide a higher level of passenger service, the airport has set up an Airport Ambassador Volunteer Program. Volunteers from the Cleveland community can sign up to help passengers at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport who need either information or some form of assistance during their visit.

An Airport Ambassador is required to wear a distinctive gold jacket while

on duty. An Ambassador is permitted to conduct a guided tour of the airport, and supply vital information such as names of restaurants, hotels and retailers operating in Cleveland, tourist attractions of the city, and important parts of the airport like parking spots and the baggage claim area.

Ground Transportation Services

One place an Airport Ambassador can direct you to is the Ground Transportation Services Office at the Main Terminal lower level. This is the office to visit if you encounter problems with your choice of ground transportation such as the shuttles, taxis and limousines. However, the office staff cannot arrange for ground transportation for you.

Taxis can be found at the Door #1 exiting the Baggage Claim area of the

Main Terminal. Usually, a taxi driver will charge you fare based on the meter, though occasionally they accept destinations charged by an hourly fare. You have to add 8% to the total fare as state tax.

If you fancy a train ride, you might be able to catch the Greater Cleveland

Regional Transit Authority trains which leave the airport every 15 minutes. To catch a train, head for the lower level station at the Main Terminal.

Another form of public transportation here is the Lorain County Transit bus

line that operates from the airport and drops you off at either Oberlin College (within Oberlin, Ohio) or at the Elyria Park and Ride Station of Elyria, Ohio.

Some people prefer to drive themselves around new cities rather than take

public transportation. If this applies to you, you can choose between the following car rental companies that operate at the airport: Thrifty, National, Hertz, Enterprise, Dollar, Budget, AVIS, and Alamo.

If your budget allows for it, limousine service is provided by companies

that are allowed to wait at the airport itself for passengers with limousine service reservations. Some of these limousine service companies are First Class Limo, Cirino Limousine Service, and A Touch of Class (among others.)

Eating and shopping establishments at the airport

Another need that an Airport Ambassador can help with is directing passengers to one of the over 30 eating establishments that are sprinkled throughout the airport (some of them conveniently near the departure gates.) If you want to shop instead, the Ambassador can point you in the direction of some of the over 25 concessions within airport grounds.

Hotel and lodging accommodations

Since the Sheraton Airport Hotel is conveniently found right within the premises of the airport, you may use their free shuttle service to get back to the airport for your return flight. Otherwise, you can ask about room rates at other inns, motels and hotels operating in the Greater Cleveland region. Some of these establishments provide courtesy shuttle service back to the airport as well.
