At 16 kilometers from downtown, the Chicago Midway Airport is of service to more than 17 million passengers a year. They have three concourses which
has their own airline and destination country. For Concourse A, it serves
ATA, ATTA connection, Northwest Airlines, Chicago Express, Southwest
Airlines, Frontier Airlines, and Ted, with gates from A1 to A19. Concourse
B has Comair, AirTran, ATA, Delta and Southwest Airlines, with gates B1 to
B26. At Concourse C, they have Continental Airlines, and American Airlines,
C1 to C3.
Facilities and Amenities
There are several shops located at the Chicago Midway Airport. Most of them
belong to the Hudson Group, to Wilson's Leather, Marketwalk, Viva's
Hallmark, US Open Golf House and George's Music. To appease their hunger,
Chicago Midway Airport provides several places to eat, both formal and
informal, for the selective palate of the tourists and natives such as
Illinois Bar & Grill, Mcdonald's, Gold Coast Dogs, King Wah Express, Dot
Com Caf�, Potbelly Sandwich Works, and Manny's Deli.
Mailboxes are strategically located at different places in the Chicago
Midway Airport for those travelers who would like to mail a postcard to
their friends and loved ones. There are also concessionaires who would
exchange your currency to what you need. ATMs are also placed in several
accessible locations, even by the elevators for easy access. There is also
an interfaith chapel located inside the terminal. A memorial of the Battle
of Midway plus the SBD Dauntless dive bomber is found at the Concourse A.
Parking
Parking for Chicago Midway Airport is found at the 59th and 55th street,
east side of Cicero Avenue. Their operations include parking by the hour
and day. Hourly Parking is at level 3 of the parking garage, opposite the
pedestrian bridge by the terminal. Daily Parking is at levels 1, 4, 5, and
6 of the parking garage. There are also economy lot parking, situated by
Cicero Avenue. There are shuttles that take the passengers to the terminal
building for free. They leave in 15 minute intervals, passing through all
three economy lots. There is also available parking for the disabled
passengers, found in all parking garages, usually to be found near the
elevators of the airport or the parking lot entrance.
Hotel and Accommodations
There are several places to stay in the communities around the Chicago
Midway Airport. They are usually located in the cities of Oak Lawn,
Countryside, LaGrange, Chicago, and Hillside. Examples are the Sleep Inn
Midway Airport Bedford Park which is the hotel nearest the airport, the
Hampton Inn Chicago Midway Airport, about half a mile from the airport,
Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites Chicago-Midway Airport, also half a
mile away, Calumet Park, Hampton Inn and Suites, and Hyatt Regency
McCormick Place at 10 miles away.
Transport
To get to downtown Chicago from the Chicago Midway Airport, visitors can
ride the Chicago Transit Authority Orange Line buses, suburban and downtown
shuttles, or the regional buses via the interstate highways. A shuttle can
take them from the O'Hare International to the Midway airport, which
operates every hour from seven in the morning to ten in the evening. Car
rentals and taxis may provide the convenience of getting to your place
earlier and faster.
