Occupying almost four thousand acres, the Baltimore/Washington

International Airport caters to over 52 airlines, which includes charter, cargo, and commuter flights to domestic and international destinations. An average of more than 700 flights leaves or arrives at the Baltimore/Washington International Airport daily, carrying about 56,000 passengers to their destination everyday. Among the passenger airlines that use the BWI, Southwest Airlines flies the most number of passengers, getting more than half the bulk while second to it is AirTran, with just 10% of the number of passengers. Following are American Airlines, US Airways, and United Airlines. International flights are handled by Air Canada Jazz, Air Jamaica, Air Greenland, British Airways, Icelandair, North American, and USA 3000 with non-stop trips to Accra, Ghana, West Africa, Bermuda, Cancun, Mexico, Kangerlusuaq, Greenland, London, England, Montego Bay, Jamaica, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Reykjavik, Iceland and Toronto, Canada. For domestic flights, they frequent going and leaving the airports in Orlando, Providence, Atlanta, Boston, and Tampa, from the 63 places that they cater to domestically.

Cargo Delivery

Baltimore/Washington International Airport carries an average of about 280 million pounds of freight and cargo per year. This includes different freights and mail that goes to and from different places everywhere in the world such as machine parts, aircraft and spacecraft components, electrical machinery, chemicals, seafood, pharmaceutical and biological products. They have an Air Cargo Center that spans about four hundred thousand square feet has a cargo building, a Foreign Trade Zone, an air cargo ramp, and ramp parking for seventeen aircrafts. These cargos are often brought by Astar Air Cargo or DHL, FedEx, Mountain Air, Kitty Hawk, and UPS.

Parking Facilities and Amenities

It is very easy and accessible to park at the BWI. They have different parking facilities for every parking need that you may have. They provide areas for those who just need to stay for less than an hour to bring or pick up someone, in convenient, covered spaces. There are also secure, premium places for you to park your car for over a week, at discounted prices. In cases of car trouble or such emergencies, they have facilities to help you out of your dilemma, such as jumper cables to revive a dead battery, an air pump to provide air for your flat tires, or help you open your car if you have left the keys inside. You just have to call Maryland Parking or any cashier to avail of these services.

The nearest garage to the BWI is the hourly garage which offers easy access

to entrance and exits, a "smart parking" facility that leads you to an empty space which is very helpful when you are pressed for time, and the "Pay & Go" machines for the convenience of those going on short business trips. They also have the Daily Garage with more parking and an Express Parking garage that provides a shuttle to take them back and forth your vehicle. Long term parking is also available at economical rates. A nice feature is the Cell Phone Lot that allows the patrons to wait for the call from their incoming passenger signifying their arrival without the hassle of circling around the airport.
