Situated at eight kilometers east from the city of Palma de Mallorca, the
Palma de Mallorca International Airport is one of the airports that is part
of AENA or "Aeropuertos Espa�oles y Navegacion Aerea" translated as Spanish
Airports and Air Navigation. Considered to be the third largest
international airport located in Spain, it is also known as the Son Sant
Joan Airport. Occupying a total area of about six square kilometers, it has
four terminals, the first for domestic flights and the other three for
international ones. With around twenty five million passengers handled ever
year, the expansion and addition of other structures and facilities is
being reviewed and considered.
Airport Traffic
Palma de Mallorca International Airport has the ability to see about 12,000
passengers off every hour and even more during their peak seasons in
summer. They frequently fly people to Barcelona and to Madrid-Barajas, as
well as D�sseldorf, Manchester, and Frankfurt.
Accessibility and Transportation
You may take a car going to and from the airport or a cab, whatever is
convenient for you. Cabs are found at the parking area for the arrivals.
Buses are also available which brings you to the arrivals floor and the
check-in area. This airport also has reserved parking spaces for the
disabled, lifts, sound and visual information given in four languages all

The departure area is found in the second and fourth levels. Passengers
have to check in at the second level with about 200 check-in desks are
available from the six different zones, while boarding at the four modules
is accessed at the fourth level. Arrivals are handled at the ground level.
Buses are utilized for passengers of planes parked far from the terminal.
Parking Access
The departure area is easy to get to, using a tunnel at the fourth level of
the parking area. There is an automatic walkway to link the arrivals floor
at the terminal building and the parking area. There are also automatic pay
stations located within these floors. For those who plan to borrow a car
during their stay, the ground floor level is where the rent-a-car vehicles
are located. The first level to the fourth level is reserved for general
parking purposes. The first thirty minutes are free and only the succeeding
minutes need to be paid for. There are lots of spaces to park on, with over
3000 spaces available. The places near the lifts are reserved for people of
reduced mobility. Long stay parking is available at the fifth and sixth
levels, with a capacity of 1,500 spaces. This is good for those who are
just going on short out-of-town business trips.
Hotels and other Amenities
The nearest hotel to the airport is the Federacion Empresaril Hotelera de
Mallorca, found at the city although smaller places are available for those
planning to stay overnight. Caf�s and restaurants are nearby for the
comfort and convenience of the tourists as well. You may opt to hire a car
to go around the city at your own pace although there are tour groups that
offer their services to tourists and visitors.
