In the island of Amager, from the center of Copenhagen city, travel to the
Copenhagen Airport is only 8 kilometers southeast, located in the town of

The operations hub for DHL is also located in this airport. It is owned and operated by Copenhagen Airports A/S, including airports in Roskilde, whose major shareholder is Macquarie Airports Copenhagen ApS, the Danish State, and other private individuals. With more than twenty thousand employees working together, Copenhagen International Airport has ranked the highest in customer service.Airlines and DestinationsFrom the over twenty million passengers served in Copenhagen International Airport, the majority of them are passengers of Sterling and SAS Airlines to 132 places in the world. Cargo transport reached up to almost four hundred tons just for 2006.Areas and runway systemsThe 12 square kilometer area of the Copenhagen International Airport is divided into the 3 runways and four areas in between. The North area has 3 terminals for the passenger, railway station, parking areas, a police post, the administration office, the catering facilities of Gate Gourmet, the SAS technical and cargo center. The last four facilities are provided with the four largest hangers in the north area. The SAS and DHL cargo terminals are found in the East Area, as well as the Customs center, Veterinary center, LSG Sky Chefs caterers, and the forwarding agencies. The technical bases of My Travel, Danish Air Transport, North Star, and Sterling are situated in the South Area while Naviair, which manages air traffic, and the technical maintenance team of Copenhagen International Airport is housed at the West Area. Of the 3 runways, two are parallel for the landing and take-off of planes, and cross runway extending to 2800 meters. A runway system can have a maximum of 83 flights per hour.ParkingWith a maximum capacity of 10,500 vehicles that can be accommodated for parking, Copenhagen International Airport has now given their patrons the chance to reserve one for themselves. All car park areas are under 24-hour security surveillance. To park near the terminal is most costly as compared to park far away from it. Dropping off passengers can be done outside Terminals 2 and 3. Parking in all areas is free for 15 minutes only. Parking spaces are color coded, according to location and price. Yellow is for Economy Parking, the cheapest, although farthest from the terminal although transit buses are provided for free. Orange is for Economy Plus Parking, a little more expensive than the yellow but still cheap enough, and passengers can reach the terminals through walking. The Blue is for Business Parking, which is divided into Light, Premium, and Executive, depending on location, convenience and accessibility. The hotel nearest the airport is the Hilton Copenhagen Airport, a five star hotel a few meters away the airport. It can easily be accessed through a covered tunnel.Comments (0)
