 Location of Ataturk International AirportThis major Turkish airports located near one of the biggest cities in the world - Istanbul. Because of its geographical location Istanbul was target of many wars on the Balkan Peninsula. This is the only town which is spread on two continents - Europe and Asia. The Ataturk International Airport is located in European part of Istanbul and the distance between the airport and the city is 24 kilometers. Airport is named by the person called "father of Turkey"Every person in Turkey has the biography of Kemal Mustapha. This is Turkish lieder at the beginning of past century. They call him Ataturk which in translation means - Father of Turkey. This person is significant because of lot of reforms which makes Turkey from orthodox Muslim country into modern European country. Parking facilities at the Ataturk International AirportOn each terminal of the airport (by the way the airport has 2 terminals) there is a parking lot for parking a cars. The capacity of parking area at this airport is more than 7000 cars. Transportation from and to the airportFor all those persons who have just arrived at the airport there are transport facilities including renting a car. Several car companies located at the airport are offering this service and you can hire a car for a very low price if we take in consideration other large airports in the country. Other option for transportation from the airport to the city is public transport. Public transport includes taxi drive. It is specific that on this airport there is so called dolus taxi- where 3 or four people are sharing the taxi although they don't know each other. This is cheaper than ordinary taxi service. The passengers can take a bus from the airport and back. The most popular company who provides this service is Havas. Airport facilities- everything is on your palmOn the airport there are facilities that you can find on every major airport in the world. The airport facilities include money facilities (ATMs where money can be withdrawn and also a lot of banks and exchange offices). There are a lot of restaurants which are serving national Turkish food. You will be advised to taste the Turkish food. The Turkish people are very proud of the food which mainly includes meat. Other facilities include shopping ( the stores are opened all day long actually 24 hours a day where you can find cheap clothes if the are produced in turkey) a lot of space is reserved for the luggage of the people who are in need of this service.About the capacity of the Ataturk airportAtaturk International Airport has capacity problems. It is one of the largest cargo airports in the world. Also the number of passengers on this airport soared in the last few years.
