Convenience is the Name of the Game at Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta International Airport

Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta International Airport can be found 12 miles due northwest of the city of Jakarta, in Indonesia. It has various forms of services which aim to make air travel more convenient for both domestic and international air travel passengers.

Services of the airport

Domestic flights at Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta International Airport are handled by Terminal 1 while Terminal 2 is responsible for international flights. To get from one terminal to the other, one can hop on the shuttle bus serving both terminals.

Passengers who are not familiar with Jakarta (or Indonesia on the whole) can ask for assistance from information desks conveniently situated at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. In addition, the International Flights Terminal (Terminal 2) offers international travelers service from its tourist information desks which are open round-the-clock.

If you need them, it is possible to get service from the post office, bureau de change, and banks housed within Terminal 1. Terminal 2, on the other hand, allows you to stay in touch with the world through round-the- clock telecommunications such as fax and telex; or access vital ATMs, bureau de change facilities, and banks too. If you are allowed within the waiting lounges, you can take advantage of the free local dialing service. Telephones can be used in either terminal.

Travelers who are hopeful they can recover lost or misplaced possessions within the airport can head for the lost property offices at both terminals, in the Arrivals section. And if you find your baggage to be a bit too burdensome, you can ask for help from the porter service.

Food and Beverage concessions

Travelers can opt to go shopping or buy food and drink at the concessions in Terminal 1. Terminal 2 has special shops such as a bookshop, newsagents, a gift shop, and duty-free retailers under its wing, aside from the mandatory food and beverage concessions.

Transportation services

If you arrive at Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta International Airport on board your own vehicle, you can opt for short-term parking, or overnight parking, at the car parks near the two terminals. Those who disembark at Soekarno-Hatta Jakarta International Airport, on the other hand, may opt to hire vehicles for their private use from car rental companies Europcar, Hertz, Bluebird, and Avis which all maintain desks at the two terminals, in the Arrivals section.

If you are on a tighter budget, you may choose to hire a taxi instead to take you around Jakarta. A taxi ride from the airport to the center of Jakarta generally takes 45 minutes. You can ask for more information from the taxi service counters within the Arrivals section of the two terminals.

If you want to ride in style (and your wallet can afford it), a more high- end option is limousine service. For those who have more proletarian tastes, hop on the DAMRI shuttle bus which can drop you off at Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, Gambir, Blok M/Kebayoran, or Rawamangun, as needed.

Help for Disabled Passengers

If you have some kind of physical disability, the airports provides a special lift and appropriate toilets which you can use. You need to inform your carrier that you need assistance, particularly if you require wheelchairs, before your flight to or from the airport.

Though this airport may not be a name-dropper among international airports, it does offer many services to passengers that aim to make their journey more convenient, on the whole.
